Hello, everyone, bought a 3D navigator (husband gave). It turns out it is not so easy to buy! Of course, I live in a hole, got the coolest computer salon, I say what I want - in response to the rounded eyes and "What is it This is a very narrowly specialized thing in our town you will find and we will it, too, did not bring? " I had ordered through Moscow. The question is: how to adjust the smoothness of its course, why get attached (See mm or scene), but then I somehow jerky, not much different from the arrows on the keyboard. I know that there must be a different - worked in diz agency, there was such a thing, and worked very successfully.
Two-Button the SpaceNavigator
Hello!I can only congratulate you. 3d navigator is as useful in 3ds Max as a tablet in Photoshop. No more no less. Everything can be done without them both in max and in the shop, but with them this is another level of freedom. To move from the middle mouse button to the 3d navigator, it's like a whole life to travel by public transport, and then buy yourself a good car. That so that so you reach the destination, only here the feeling of comfort is completely different. I confirm that I myself do not live in the capital, and I can not buy such a thing locally from my city. In Ukraine, I know only one distributor's office. She is in Kiev. When I decided to buy a navigator, they offered me to send it by mail, but with full prepayment. Of course, I did not agree, but in a conversation with their representative it turned out that in the week they are going with an exhibition of their products (different CAD programs for production) just in my city and can simply bring the desired navigator. And it happened. I came to see them at an exhibition in my city and bought a joystick from them. And even felt the SpacePilot😁 But its price seemed too overestimated to me, especially considering that I was a beginner trideshnik (it was about 5 years ago). Although now, it is possible that I will buy myself or his or SpaceMouse Pro. But to be honest, there is no literal need, in fact it is an overpayment of 400 USD for additional. Button. So if you want to base it, then just a two-button SpaceNavigator. Now on the topic of the question. Here are the screenshots of my 3DxWare for 3ds Max settings😁evice Configuration tab. Then I selected the zoom type on the "Y" axis, and also changed the Overall Speed.
In the App Configuration tab, disabled the Dominant option.
Two buttons of the Button Configuration tab defined as Shift and Fit (equivalent to the "Z" key on the keyboard). By the way Alt, Ctrl and Del at me stand on buttons of a mouse that it was not necessary to remove a hand from a joystick on the keyboard for majority of operations in max
However the most key settings are in Advanced settings. These are the most "sensitive" details of navigation control in the viewport. I suggest you just copy them from my screen. Long enough for them to deduce, correcting the sensitivity of this or that axis in the process of work.
It is very important, make sure that you have the right axis of navigation. That is, if you pull the joystick on yourself, then in the scene you fly from the object and vice versa, if you push it forward, then you are approaching the desired point of the scene. At least it's convenient for me to do so, do not pull the scene with respect to the camera, but fly the camera around the stage. Otherwise, it can be very annoying. In addition, I prefer using Target Camera Mode in 3ds Max. To configure this mode, you can temporarily assign one of the buttons, in the Button Configuration tab, the Popup Menu function. Go to max and there click it. This menu will come out:
In it, set the mood as convenient for you (you can experiment, but you can just expose it as me) and back to the button the desired function.
Hello!Ilya, you're richer on your wave😁I, in the post # 6334, made it clear that I will not make a video with voiceovers. But oh well ...Apparently, you and the rest of the posts are not much that was read, since there it is clearly enough read that the main and only feature of the navigator is the implementation of smooth navigation without the use of a mouse. Navigation, this is what you are currently doing with:Middle Mouse Button + ALT = Orbit (Orbit SubObject)Middle Mouse Button + CTRL = Move aroundMiddle Mouse Button + ALT + CTRL = ZoomOnly the navigator - it does everything not discretely (not with jerks as when twisting the wheel of a mouse), but smoothly and simultaneously. That is, you do not need to change the keys for Move around, Zoom or Orbit. You simply do this by moving the joystick or by tilting its handle in the desired direction. As for the modeling, how do you think the Move around, Zoom or Orbit can be directly applied in the modeling? All I'm talking about is that, while navigating with the joystick, the mouse remains free, as it does not participate in the navigation process. But with the mouse itself, you can do all the same things you could do without a joystick, no new functions were added. When I gave an example of Cut, I wanted to say that if we take a cylinder, for example, and cut it in a circle, we'll have to position the cylinder in some position. Make an incision on the part turned to us, then exit the Cut tool, click the Middle Mouse Button + ALT to fly to the side that was rotated from us. Again enter the Cut mode and cut the rest of the model. In other words, you will have to interrupt the work with the Poly Modeling tool to free the mouse for navigation. Do you understand? In the case of an additional joystick, the mouse is not used for navigation and continues to be in that mode, in the court it was, in our example it is the Cut tool in Editable Poly. Thus, you can navigate without leaving the selected tool, after which you can safely continue working with this tool, as there was nothing to it. That is, except in itself more comfortable navigation, left hand, right you, without interruption, you can work with a mouse in what and how you worked there earlier. For clarity, I want to say that the Cut tool is a random example that came to mind. All the same goes for the other 3ds Max functions. Navigation by itself, mouse operation in the viewport and beyond - in itself. Also, it should be noted that you can not work with the scene literally during navigation, not because it is not possible in principle, but because you need to be an acrobat to model through the camera flying on the stage (view from the viewport). Here, on a static stage, the units with the grid are able to be controlled, where with the moving one😁I hope, I have clearly stated😉
Everything is very simple. The fact that the 3D navigation system is not the manipulator such as a mouse, keyboard or tablet. It operates locally in a particular program, through its built-in plug-in connector.
During the installation, the driver searches for 3Dconnexion devaysa installed (at the time of its installation in the system) software such as AutoCAD, Photoshop, 3ds Max, and so on, and then puts the plug connector in the system folders of these programs, which is loaded with the very start of the Property programs.
When you install the driver for your browser, you had ustanovlea one version of 3ds Max and that it set the desired plug-in browser. Now you have set up a new version of Max and of course there is not this plugin.
All you need to do is simply download the latest driver for your 3Dconnexion manipulator and install it. He finds a new 3ds Max and install it manipulator driver😉
Almost once a situation does not arise, it is necessary to aim the camera (center) viewport to an object with which no work is underway at the moment. Is that fly through the interior of the model "in the computer game", but it can be except that only "for fun." In real working situation, the rotation center of the viewport to be the object with which the work is carried out directly. This is what leads to the Target mode. In this mode, the camera viewport center and, therefore, it is the center of rotation - Selected Object. That is the center of the viewport is the center of your attention. Here it is convenient. normal camera mode, as well as automatically assigning the spotlight mode, for me personally not comfortable for the reasons described above.
But I'm not in any case do not impose it as the only correct setting, in this case, it is subjective, someone as comfortable. I advise you to work day with a free camera, with day and Target have to decide how you personally more comfortable😉
Hi,The peculiarity of the navigator installer is that during the installation process, not only the driver of this multifunction joystick is installed, but also each plug-in compatible with the joystick is installed. That is, the installer looks at the list of applications registered in Windows, looks for compatible ones and puts plugins into their default folders, which automatically start with the launch of the programs themselves. It is possible that you have in Windows - 3ds Max is not officially registered or was registered, but because of a registry error, which is quite possible, this registration has flown down. As a result, the installer of the navigator does not find your 3ds Max in the list of registered programs, considering that it simply does not exist and, as a consequence, does not put its plug-in there. You should check in the Control Panel => Programs and Features, whether there is 3ds Max in the list. By the way, the installer of the navigator in the installation options also shows where he plans to put the plug-ins, there you can also take a look.In the event that the installer of the navigator still does not see 3ds Max in the list of installed programs, then you should either fix the registry (now a lot of free regs of the clients), or simply reinstall 3ds Max so that it will register in the system. Then run the installer of the navigator, so that he put the plugin in the system folders 3ds Max.Alternatively, you may have an old version or a "fresh" version of 3ds Max, which simply does not support your version of the "firewood" of the navigator. More details should be looked in the description of this version on the manufacturer's website, where do you download the installation of the navigator.
